Kenneth A. Christmon

A lifelong resident of Richmond, Indiana, Kenneth A. Christmon graduated from Richmond High School and attended IU East. Ken was employed by Earlham College for 33 years. While at Earlham, he served as the Chief of Police and finished his career as the Associate Dean of Students. Ken ended his service in higher education, serving Ivy Tech Community College for 10 years as the as the Associate Director of Multicultural Affairs. Ken was bi-vocational, serving as an Ordained Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church, where he served as Senior Pastor for over 25 years serving congregations in Terre Haute, Bloomington, and nearly two decades in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Ken’s legacy to the Richmond community will be indelibly marked by his being one of the co-founders and President of the Board for the Galileo Charter School and one of the co-founders of Ivy Tech Community’s African American Male Summit. He was also passionate about his work to assist others with attaining affordable housing in partnership with First Federal Savings and Loan (now First Bank Richmond).
